Manchester United could be faced with a big transfer blow as Erik ten Hag prepares to rejuvenate the squad following a terrible season.
What’s the word?
That’s according to transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted that Bayern Munich are preparing a bid of around £20m for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
He said: “Julian Nagelsmann is pushing to sign Laimer – as Premier League top clubs are interested too. He’s out of contract in 2023.”

Julen Nagelsmann is pushing to sign the player ahead of next season and this is a major blow to Manchester United, who seem to be falling behind other clubs in their pursuit of the highly-rated talent.
Transfer blow for ten Hag
Man United are set to target a new midfielder, with constant rumours of Paul Pogba leaving the club on the expiration of his contract in the summer gathering pace.
This would leave a gaping hole in the middle of the Red Devils’ midfield and Laimer could be a cut-price addition to the squad which would give ten Hag funds to splash the cash on other problem areas.
The Austrian has scored four goals and provided a further four assists in 25 Bundesliga matches this season, which is three more strikes than Pogba during the campaign.
In addition to scoring more goals than the Frenchman, Laimer offers a more solid set of defensive stats too, making almost double the number of tackles (39 to 20), fewer fouls (42 to 45), and more blocks (27 to 16).
Granted the France international can be one of the finest players on the planet when in form, but it has never materialised at Old Trafford during his disappointing six-year stint and it looks like it’s time to part ways.
The Austrian, judging by the stats, could be a perfect replacement if Pogba does leave the club. If the price being quoted by Romano is true, then United should grab the opportunity before Bayern Munich, or it would be a big disappointment.
